Is Your Boat Ready For Spring?
It’s almost time to get back on the water. The air is getting warmer and you cannot wait to get your boat out of storage and back out there. Even if your boat wasn’t in storage, there are a few things you should check out before hitting the water.
Take A Good Look
Uncover your boat and take a good close look at it. Make sure there aren’t any cracks in the paint job or the hull. Also, double check fittings and screws. They all should be nice and tight. Do not forget to check out your trailer. While you are at it, also take out your flares, extinguishers and flotation devices and make sure they are up to date.
Electrical Systems
Your boat’s wiring also needs to get checked out. You also may need a new battery since you have not used your vessel in a while. Obviously, you will want to check out your engine and make sure it runs properly before you take your boat out on the water. While checking the engine, take a look at all your lights, pumps and gauges. Change burnt out lights and broken pumps. Fuel that is sitting too long in a tank can become contaminated. When in doubt, drain the old fuel and replace it.
