Plaquemines Parish

The Parish is located about 65 miles south of New Orleans. The entire area is a world class fishing destination. The  Mississippi River that runs through Plaquemines Parish makes it the gateway to the Gulf of Mexico and the world. That’s why the area is fed by both fresh and saltwater which makes for great fishing habitats.  Plaquemines is also home to over an many  fresh and saltwater lakes and is spread out over hundreds of miles of coastline.  Areas such as Buras, Myrtle Grove, Pointe a la Hache, or Venice are home to fishing competitions.

Fish Oil Rigs near Venice

If you are thinking about fishing offshore, just keep going down the river and head into the Gulf. Here, you will find many offshore oil rigs which are home to coral-reef ecosystems that attract many fish  including blue marlin, yellow fin tuna, or red snapper.  Rig fishing has been the go-to method for many fishermen for a while now.
